Darjeeling Second Flush 2012

  Pinterest

Just a post to inform you that our Darjeeling Second Flush 2012 picks have now been updated to our site. Beautiful Second Flush Darjeeling Teas, fruity, nutty and caramelized. We did a lot of tea tastings during this season, some arrived very early, some right on quality time and some later when the quality started to droop.

Darjeeling Second Flush 2012 Tea

All teas, I must say, won our hearts in one or the other way with their own unique characteristics except for some very early arrivals and late arrivals. The early arrivals were in between First Flush and Second Flush and were more of astringent in characteristics and much lighter in cup – Second Flush should be with very less less amount of astringency and darker/redder in the cup. The late arrivals turned very heavy in the cup with less amount of flavor which is a sign of the excessive amount of rains. Now, lots of teas came during the peak quality time and personally I liked all of them – lovely teas, but I had to choose Darjeeling Teas which topped these top teas – its always hard to choose when such lovely teas are lined up in front of you. However, I am no billionaire to purchase all and I had to purchase the ones that topped according to my palate. Sadly, I had to discard a lot and go for just a few.

Arya Tea Estate once again topped when it came to the number of quality teas it rolled out. We had some wholesale order for Arya Diamond and Arya Emerald and had placed an order with Mr. Roy, the manager, Arya Tea Estate. He just didn’t disappoint us with the teas we had ordered – marvelous teas – Thanks to Mr. Roy for providing us such wonders.

Next came a range of Jayshree Teas and Turzum was one worth taking note of. Infact we just couldn’t avoid this tea – “Turzum Himalayan Mystic”! Again thanks to Mr. Jha (Superintendent) for providing such a lovely offering from his tea garden. Turzum is one tea estate which is holding its harness to the quality belt – they rather believe in quality rather than quantity. Very intricate observation and concentration gets applied in all of its tea processing and the end result – just incredible!

Now I just can’t avoid the range of Goodricke teas. Castleton Tea Garden is one of Goodricke’s prized possession – a lot of thanks to Mr. D.B. Gurung and Mr. Mukhia (manager) for their awesome talent in making the most sought after “Castleton Moonlight” – lovely tea both during the First and Second Flush. And many thanks to Mr. Binod Gurung for providing us Castleton Moonlight during both the flushes.

Giddapahar is another tea garden, fairly priced revealing awesome quality classic Darjeeling Teas. Thanks to Mr. Sudhangshu (the owner) for providing their classic Musk and clonal variety.

Lastly, just would like to add – Go ahead and try the teas and I believe that you will like it. If not, I will personally guarantee you here – I will refund you in full and even not ask you for the return of the teas.

Anyways, regarding packaging, we have done controlled packaging with the teas, meaning we have applied only light vacuum packaging to some teas in order to avoid crushing of the tea leaves. Some may not appear wriggled up as is common with the vacuum packed teas, just that it has been applied lightly.
